Ian Cockwell, CA

Ian Cockwell has been an investor and executive in the real estate and Oil and Gas sectors since the mid-1970’s. He has served as a director of Northstar Energy Corporation and Parkbridge Lifestyle Communities Inc. Mr. Cockwell has held executive roles as Chairman or President of Wilmington since 1993, and President and CEO of Brookfield Homes Corporation from 1998 to 2011.

Ian Cockwell is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) degree.


Michael Kanovsky, P.Eng, MBA

Michael Kanovsky co-founded Northstar Energy Corporation (1978), subsequently Devon Corporation’s Canadian subsidiary, founded Bonavista Energy Corporation in 1997 and co-founded PowerLink Corp.

Prior to 1978, Mr. Kanovsky served as Vice President of Corporate Finance for Western Canada for a large Canadian investment dealer and, most recently, he was a Shareholder & Director of Seven Generations Energy Ltd. Previously, he was Vice Chairman of Precision Drilling, founding director of Arc Resources Ltd., North American Oil Sands Corporation, Vista Midstream Solutions Ltd., Pure Technologies Inc. and Seven Generations Energy Ltd.

Mr. Kanovsky received his B.Sc. (Honors) in Mechanical Engineering from Queen’s University and his MBA from the Ivey School of Business.


Joe Killi, BSc, CA

Joe Killi was the co-founder and Executive Chairman of Parkbridge Lifestyle Communities Inc. (TSX: PRK) which was sold to the British Columbia Investment Management Corporation in January 2011 for $790 million. He was also the co-founder and vice chair of Realex Properties, a TSX-listed commercial real estate company that was sold to Dundee REIT in 2011.

From 1994 to 1996, Mr. Killi led the New-York based Olympia & York (USA) restructuring on behalf of Brookfield Asset Management Inc., CIBC, and the Li Ka Shing Group.

Mr. Killi was also previously the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Trizec Corporation Ltd., Director of Vermillion Energy Inc. from 1990 to 2016, and a past director of several private and public enterprises, including the aforementioned, Bramalea Limited (TSX), Gentra Inc. (TSX), Carma Corporation (TSX), Central Park Lodges Inc., and Hahn Company

Mr. Killi is a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.


Henry van der Sloot, CA, CFA

Henry van der Sloot is a founder and former Director, CEO & Chairman of Strad Energy Services. In addition, Mr. van der Sloot is a board member of several private and non-profit enterprises, past CEO of Banff Caribou Properties Ltd., and past Managing Director of Network Capital Inc.

Henry is a Chartered Accountant, a Chartered Financial Analyst and is an alumni of the Harvard Business School.


Brooke Wade, FCA

Brooke Wade is the current President of Wade Capital Corporation, a private investment company. From 1994 until the sale of the company it was sold in 2005, Mr. Wade was the co-founder, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer of Acetex Corporation, a publicly traded chemical company specializing in acetyls, specialty polymers, and films. Prior to founding Acetex Corporation, Mr. Wade was founding President and Chief Executive Officer of Methanex Corporation, a company created by a plan of growth through acquisitions to become what is known today as the world’s largest methanol producer.

Mr. Wade currently serves on the boards of Novinium Inc., IAC Acoustics Limited and GranTierra Energy Inc. He was also a director of the Caracal Energy Inc. board from September 2011 until its purchase in July 2014. He is a member of the World Presidents’ Organization, the Chief Executives Organization, and the Dean’s Advisory Council of the Harvard Kennedy School.

Mr. Wade earned a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Calgary in 1974 and received his Chartered Accountant designation in 1977. In 2012, he became a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia.


Kaush Rakhit, M.Sc., P. Geol

In 1989, Kaush Rakhit founded Rakhit Petroleum Consulting Ltd. (RPCL), which became internationally known for its integrated hydrodynamics work and unconventional gas studies. In 2005, RPCL purchased and merged with Canadian Discovery Ltd. (CDL).

With over 29 years of experience in the petroleum exploration industry, Mr. Rakhit specializes in exploration and development hydrodynamics, hydrochemistry, development geology, reservoir modeling and petroleum migration studies.

Mr. Rakhit co-founded Groundwater Solutions Ltd. (now Matrix Solutions Inc.) and worked with WCSB, Canadian Frontiers and North Sea since 2006. He is also the founding and current director of Seven Generations Energy Ltd., and serves as a Director of Matrix Solutions Inc., Canadian Discovery Ltd., and Petrofeed Inc.

Known for recognizing, defining, and exploiting resource plays at an early stage, Mr. Rakhit became the first person to complete a Post Graduate degree in M. Sc. in Petroleum Hydrogeology at the University of Alberta in 1987 and graduated from the University of Waterloo with a B. Sc. in Earth Sciences in 1983. Mr. Rakhit is a Professional Geologist and an active member of APEGA.
